The 5th annual Northland Catholic Classic Basketball Scrimmages were held December 1st at St. Andrew, St. Gabriel, St. James, St. Patrick, St. Pius X and St. Therese schools. All of the Northland Catholic Schools jointly participated in the event which was held for boys and girls basketball teams in the 3rd-8thgrades.
The Northland Classic allows the basketball teams to gain some game time experience before the season begins, while helping the hungry in our own community. The entry fee for each team was 40 canned goods and admission for spectators was 2 canned goods or $2, all of which was donated to each host gym's food pantry.
Collectively, the schools donated 3,365 cans of food and $596 this year. Over the past 5 years the schools have donated nearly 15,000 canned goods and $3000 to the food pantries their parishes support.
