Students who apply and are accepted participate for 1/2 of their school day in the internship and must adhere to the CAPS' programs expectations, including the attendance requirement. Areas of study, or "threads" include: medicine and health care, technology, digital media and design, global business and entrepreneurship, global logistics, and engineering and advanced manufacturing. There is no cost for the program to the student.
A+ Program
This program is sponsored by the state of Missouri, benefitting both the engaging student(s) and those receiving assistance. Expectations include performing 50 hours of unpaid tutoring verified by an educator, a positive citizenship record with no drug / alcohol offenses, 2.50 cumulative GPA, 95% attendance, a predetermined math ACT score, and completion of a "career pathway plan."
SPX CAPS Medical students learned procedures surrounding Personal Protective Equipment usage in their first few weeks of the program this fall. This was one of four skills rotations, including manual vitals, blood pressure and bedside manner.
