This course combines the study of British literature with written composition. It provides the student with a broad overview from Beowulf through The Canterbury Tales and into the 20th century. Different critical approaches to literature are taught, focusing on British and world authors. Essays are primarily persuasive in nature and emphasizing critical thinking. In addition, the students complete a ten page research paper.
The Health/SPX 101 curriculum plans, sequential and targeted lessons to establish an individual basis for wellness; including the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social health dimensions. Raising awareness of healthy behaviors and risks is a critical step in motivating a positive change in teen health behaviors.
This course aims to improve the student’s ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish. Also, the course strives to review grammar previously studied, to master new concepts in Spanish, and enhance the student’s knowledge of the cultural diversity of the Spanish-speaking world. There will be considerable emphasis on the improvement of oral skills, and students will be encouraged to speak in Spanish on a variety of topics. Course materials are designed to stimulate conversation, striving to imitate the native speaker’s pronunciation accent and rhythm. 85-90% of the class will occur in Spanish.
