For nearly 70 years, St. Pius X High School has fostered faith, academic excellence, and lifelong learning. As we approach our 75th anniversary, the 2024 Feasibility Study has provided a clear vision for growth, innovation, and expanded opportunities for our students.
A Growing Legacy
St. Pius X continues to grow, with nearly 500 students enrolled this year—the largest since 1979—and a goal of reaching 600 in the near future. However, with growth comes challenges, including limited classroom space, lack of lockers, outdated facilities, and crowded commons areas.
Vision for the Future
Guided by our 2022 Master Plan, which includes 3 phases, the school plans to invest $10 million in campus improvements over the next three years. Key projects in Phase 1 include:
Renovating the existing Commons to add four Smart Classrooms, four administrative offices, a senior locker bay, a concession stand, and an expanded kitchen
Building a safe and secure storm shelter to protect up to 620 students
Constructing a new Commons area built above the severe weather storm shelter.
Building a state-of-the-art Training Facility in the stadium’s north end-zone
These improvements will not only address the immediate challenges of growth, but also ensure that St. Pius X continues to provide students with an environment that fosters academic, spiritual, and extracurricular excellence.
Strong Community Support
The feasibility study, conducted by Praxis Nonprofit Strategies, highlighted significant community support:
Mission and Image: 91% of respondents rated the school’s mission execution positively, and 92% viewed St. Pius X’s image favorably. We are very proud to report this is up 6pts from the 2016 Feasibility study, where only 85% perceived our image as positive!
Leadership Confidence: 86% expressed trust in the school’s leadership decision-making, while 84% showed confidence in their ability to execute major facility projects.
Support for Expansion: 90% of participants were somewhat or very supportive of the proposed improvements.
Campaign Readiness: 77% of respondents indicated they would personally make a gift, and 81% supported or were somewhat supportive of launching a campaign within 12 months.
Concerns to Address
While enthusiasm is high, participants raised concerns about:
Increasing investment in academic excellence and STEM education
Ensuring resources are not overly focused on athletics
Providing equitable support for all sports programs
St. Pius X is committed to addressing these concerns as we move forward with our plans.
Next Steps
St. Pius X is preparing for a Capital Campaign to bring these plans to life. Initial site work has already begun on the Training Facility, funded by designated contributions. During this time, we will address feedback, refine cost projections, and ensure our plans align with our mission and goals.
