CHRISTMAS LUNCH
It is a tradition that before finals and Christmas break, the school with Parents Association "gifts" our students with a special Christmas lunch. This year, the Christmas lunch will be on Monday, December 6. The lunch will be complimentary to all students and is made extra special by our wonderful Cafeteria staff and volunteers. For dessert, in the past Freshman provided the cookies for dessert but since we missed out on this tradition last year, we are asking that all Freshman and Sophomores bring in a dozen cookies that morning. There will be a table in the Commons area labeled "cookies" that your student can set the cookies on. If you would like to send them on a tray that is welcome and would be helpful but if not, just send them in a disposable container if possible. If you need your tray or container back, please label it and have your child pick it up at the end of the day.

The countries in Latin America remember their dearly departed by creating altars called "ofrendas" that contain the photos of those remembered as well as flowers and candles to light the way for those who passed on.This is celebrated on All Souls Day every year. It is called Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). This year students at St. Pius X created these altars and then added photos of those who have departed in order to celebrate their lives.

LEAVING FOR AN APPT OR TRIP?
Student leaving class for an appt or out of town for a trip? If you know of an appointment in advance (doctor, orthodontist, any other appointment) please email Mrs. Bohr at least 24 hours in advance cbohr@spxkc.org and she will give your student a "Green Slip" that is signed by each teacher whose class they will miss.
This procedure helps facilitate conversations about class work, homework etc.
Your student then is able to leave class without having to interrupt. They turn the slip in to the office when they sign out or the afternoon before they will be absent for an entire day.
They are able to sign out and meet you in the lot if we know you are in the lot to pick them up. Please bring a doctor's note when you return so that it can be entered correctly. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Bohr. If you do not bring a note, the absence will count as unexcused.
